These Immortal Souls were an Australian band active through the late 1980's and early 1990's.
The band consisted of Rowland S. Howard (guitar and vocals), Genevieve McGuckin (keyboards), Epic Soundtracks (drums) and Harry Howard (bass). They formed in London in 1987 when McGuckin joined the three fresh ex-members of Crime And The City Solution.
Howard and McGuckin had already played together with Lydia Lunch on "Some Velvet Morning" single and the album "Honeymoon In Red" in 1982. These releases featured Barry Adamson and The Birthday Party members Tracy Pew, Mick Harvey and Nick Cave.
These Immortal Souls recorded their first album in a short amount of time, but during a long period. Short studio sessions were held with long breaks inbetween which made the process difficult. During this time R.S. Howard also played and recorded with Nikki Sudden. Finally band's debut single "Marry Me (Lie! Lie!) and album "Get Lost (Don't Lie!) were released in late 1987. After that they toured Europe and USA.
In 1991 Rowland S. Howard teamed up once again Lydia Lunch to record "Shotgun Wedding" album. They toured with a live band that included Harry Howard and Craig Williamson who was to become a These Immortal Souls drummer couple years later.
The band remained quiet until 1992, when "King Of Kalifornia" single and "I'm Never Gonna Die Again" album were released. Epic Soundtracks left the band soon after the recording. He passed away in 1997.
Craig Williamson joined in as drummer and Spencer P. Jones became the second guitarist. With this line-up they recorded "You Can't Unring a Bell" for Tom Waits tribute album called "Step Right Up" in 1994. Later Jones left the group.
The band moved to Australia where they occasionally performed. They played their final gig in Melbourne July 23rd 1998.
